Vice President Vance: The United States and the United Kingdom are likely to reach an agreement on trade that is in the best interests of both countries

Vice President Vance says there is a good chance that the United States and Britain will reach a "great deal" on trade because of President Trump's love affair with Britain and the royal family. In Trump's initial tariff announcement, the United Kingdom was not punished the most severely because the two sides have a largely balanced trade relationship. Still, British imports to the United States are now subject to a 10 percent tariff, while Britain's steel and auto industries are subject to a 25 percent tariff. Officials from both countries have been in talks for weeks, with an initial focus on strengthening cooperation on artificial intelligence and technology, but it could also expand to food and other goods. Vance said the U.S. government is working very hard with the government of British Prime Minister Starmer. Referring to the cultural affinity between the United States and the United Kingdom, Vance said: "I think we have a good chance of reaching a great deal that is in the best interests of both countries."
