According to the US Federal Register: The US Secretary of Commerce launched a 232 national security investigation into imports of semiconductors and semiconductor manufacturing equipment. In a separate bulletin, the US Department of Commerce also launched a 232 investigation into imports of pharmaceuticals and their ingredients.
