European Union suspends retaliatory tariffs on U.S. goods until July 14

The European Union has announced that it will suspend retaliatory tariffs on US goods worth 21 billion euros until July 14, 2025. The move is aimed at creating space for talks with Washington. European Union Trade Commissioner Sefcovic arrived in Washington on Monday for talks with US representatives, hoping to reach an agreement before the end of the 90-day period. The European Union Commission said that while it was still preparing a response to the 20% US tariffs, Brussels made it clear that it wanted to avoid retaliatory action, arguing that the US tariffs were "unreasonable and harmful" and could harm both sides and the global economy.
