The UK Financial Conduct Authority has re-appointed Nikhil Rathi as CEO

According to CoinDesk, Nikhil Rathi, the chief executive of the UK's Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), has been reappointed. Rathi, the first FCA chief executive to be given a further five-year term by the Treasury, will have more time to implement its plans for the financial sector, including cryptocurrencies. Under his leadership, the FCA has registered 51 cryptocurrency companies under anti-money laundering rules. Some of these companies include cryptocurrency and investment firms Coinbase, Revolut, eToro, and recently BlackRock, the largest asset manager. The FCA, which is seeking to establish a new crypto regulatory regime by 2026 and introduce a fresh authorisation process, intends to publish documents early next year on stablecoins, trading platforms, pledges, prudent cryptocurrency exposure and lending.
